Day 10 and 11: Travel Day and Prague
Yesterday we left early in the morning to make our way to Prague. We stopped at the palace that Haydn was a performer at. All of these old buildings with painted ceilings are starting to look a like. The acostics in the concert hall were pretty nice though. The bus ride took the whole day. We stopped for lunch and I got potatoes with sauerkraut. We finally got to Prague and had a welcome dinner with basically no vegetarian food. The only thing I could eat was salad, fruit, and deserts. Not the greatest dinner. We got our first music paper back and I got a 91. I finished writing my second music paper after dinner and we walked around for a little bit. Today we went to class and watched the recording of the opera we are going to see tomorrow. It was pretty sad. We got our first art paper back and I got an 85. After that we went to the largest "castle" in the world. I put this in quotation because it doesn't really look like a castle, it looks too modern. There was a nice old Gothic church next to it though that we got to go inside. It looked really pretty. After that Jamie and I decided that it was time to start drinking! We went to random train stops and would get off and grab a drink at a random cafe or pub. I got some wine at one pub that was the nastiest wine ever. Then we went to a bar and I got a strawberry coloda, it was soooo STRONG. Apparently here in Prague all the drinks are stronger. Jamie and I then tried to navigate our way back to the hotel in our drunken state. It was pretty ridiculous. We got a lady to take a picture of us at the train station. When we got back to the room I took a nap because I wasn't feeling too well. Now I have a cold. After my nap we went out to get some dinner. I found this street stand that was selling breaded fried cheese sandwiches like the one Anthony Bourdain ate in Russia. It was really good, also extremely unhealthy. So of course I had to top it off with some ice cream! Mango! =] Finally I was still feeling sick so we came back to the room and tried to decide if we were going to the pub crawl tonight, but I think I am going to wait for this cold to go away.
