Day 8: Vienna

We went to an Opera house yesterday. We got there are 12:15 like we were supposed to, but apparently our school didn't schedule a tour correctly. We had to wait for 2:00 to have a tour. So Jamie, Becca, Billy, Rachel, and I went to grab some lunch. I had cream of celery soup. It was pretty good. Then all of a sudden it started POURING and it was time to head back to the Opera house for our tour. Luckily Jamie and I brought umbrellas, the others of our group weren't so lucky. So we made a run for it. The rain was so hard that it was coming up from the rivers in the street. So my shoes and the bottom of my dress got wet. When I got to the Opera house I noticed that when my dress gets wet it gets see through. Luckily I had my long brown cardigan and could button it up all the way. So the entire group that I am with got soaked before our tour of the Opera house. We looked like a bunch of wet dogs, bu the Opera house was very beautiful. We got to go backstage and look at these guys building the stage for the performance that night. Jamie and I went shopping afterwards for a watch and some shoes for her since she has been getting blisters. We still have not found any watches. Are they just out of style in Europe or are they just all overly priced. I am not looking for a Rolex or anything. Jamie finally found some flip flops that weren't outrageously priced at H&M. Jamie and I started getting hungry so we went to this Viennese restaurant. I got vegetarian schnitzel. It was pretty good. There salads in Vienna are just shredded vegetables that were vinegared. It's not that good. my shoes were still wet so we went back tot he hotel so I could change them.I grabbed my raincoat and my umbrella and we headed out to the concert. It started to rain and I stayed mostly dry, except for my feet, thanks to my raincoat. The concert was 2 hours long and we listened to 3 pieces. It was really well performed and the conductor was kind of a joker. He moved around a lot and kind of stabbed at the instrumental group that he wanted to play. After the concert, Jamie talked with her mom on skype. So I went to hang out with Cesar and a whole bunch of people. We drank some champagne in his room and hung out until it was finally time to go out on the town. First we went to flex cafe, it dead. It was underground downstairs by the river. We were in a group of about 20 people so we convinced the guy to let us in for 3 euro instead of 4. When we got in they were playing a mixture of techno, 90s songs, and modern. We tried to dance a little but everyone in the place looked like they had been on hard drugs at some point in there life. We decided to do Jagger bombs which cost 4,80 euro, only drink I got for the night, way too expensive. Since the club looked kind of run down and unwelcoming, we decided to find somewhere else to go. We took a cab to Passage. It was a classier club that had a dress code. When we got there a lot of our group couldn't get in, they kept saying "No Americans tonight." Cesar is half Puerto Rican and half Colombian, so he said do you want to try and get in? I looked at the kids that were with us and they definitely looked American, so I said we could try it. We walked right in with no problems. It costed 12 euro to get in though. Going out is expensive. This club only played American rap song. It was pretty funny. So we danced until about 2:30 am, the metro was closed so we had to grab a cab. I was beat. It was an inferno in that club so I was drenched, we had been dancing for what seemed like an eternity. We finally got back to the hotel and I was so tired I went straight upstairs showered and passed out.
